In 1999 when I finally couldn't take it [the unethical nature of doing business in this sector] anymore I quit the marketing industry in London. In fact I quit the UK altogether and went to New Zealand to go snowboarding to find out where I wanted to be in life. I decided that actually NZ was a good place to stay, so I started my own business there. Since then I have been involved in several start-ups, some more successful than others. I have experienced enough failures, successes, made huge mistakes, enjoyed great success, dealt with bad guys, good guys and everything else you could imagine to feel that I am finally beginning to mature as a businessman and as a person. I am now back in London running an ethical creative marketing consultancy and just loving it. I accept that I will always have something new to learn and I now know that I have something decent to offer too.
